These alliances, which have shared and/or complementary aims, are intended to boost the presence of projects in two different specialised markets for the documentary genre, thus enabling the completion of the development and financing.
Thus, a project which was present at the last edition of FIPADOC (Biarritz International Documentary Film Festival (January 2021) will be chosen by our selection committee and will have the chance to participate in our Forum. Also, one of the projects participating in the Lau Haizetara Forum will be present in the second edition of FIPADOC Biarritz in January 2022. The project selected by the French festival was “The King’s Speech” by Juan Rodríguez-Briso (Purple Tembo Media).
In the same way, one of the projects presented in the Lau Haizetara Forum pitching session and one of the projects participating in the DocsBarcelona (Barcelona International Documentary Film Festival) speed meetings will be chosen to automatically participate in the other marketplace. In the next edition of the Catalan festival, which will be held from 18 to 30 May, the Abel García Roure project “Sumario 3/94” (Quatre Films Audiovisuales Sl) will participate.
These agreements make our Forum a good platform for presentation and work, consolidating itself as a documentary meeting point.
The Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum will hold its seventeenth edition on 21, 22 and 23 September 2021 within the framework of the 69th San Sebastián International Film Festival and plans to maintain its usual format after a year filled with uncertainty.
Also, work is under way to create the Commissioning Editors committee that will participate in the pitching session and that will form, once more, an appealing panel for the submitted projects.
