Lau Haizetara announces the new completed projects added to its 2017 catalogue

sinFour documentary projects at the development and/or production stages which participated in previous editions of the Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum have been completed and their premiere is expected this year. Since it started, and thanks to the boost received at this forum, more than 30 projects have been successfully finished and have gone on to enjoy a long trajectory.

The new works to join this year’s catalogue are:

  • “Arizmendiarrieta, el hombre cooperativo” by Gaizka Urresti (Spain). Produced by Altube Filmak (company associated to IBAIA), the project has the co-production of ETB and funding of the ICAA (Instituto de las Ciencias y las Artes Audiovisuales).
  • “Cause of Death” by Anniken Hoel (Norway), produced by Andrew Grant. Rise & Shine is responsible for its international sales. Since it premiered in March this year at the CPH:DOX (Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival), the documentary has won awards at different international festivals and has sold its tv version for TV2 in Norway.
  • “Impulso” by Emilio Belmonte (France). Produced by Les Films De La Butte and distributed by the French company Jour 2 Fete.
  • “The Ramadan cannon” by Atta Awisat-Nimrod Shanit (Israel), produced by OutSide Films International and with its premiere scheduled this year on Canada’s SRC channel.

Every year, the projects selected to participate in the preparation workshops and pitching sessions receive assessment from tutors experienced in the documentary world and compete for an award of consultancy in distribution and festivals given by the Treeline distribution company from Madrid. It is worth recalling that at last year’s edition of the forum the winning project was Emilio Belmonte’s “Impulso”, and that thanks to the attention and dedication received the project was able to adopt the best strategy for its international distribution.

This is the 13th anniversary of the Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum (September 26-28), an activity related to the San Sebastian Festival, intended to promote international co-production and relations between documentary industry professionals which gains in strength every year.

Registration remains open to participate in these activities or to be a member of the audience at the presentation of the projects and to meet accredited professionals of the audiovisual and film industry.
