The aim of this alliance, in force since 2018, is to boost the presence of projects in two different complementary and specialised markets for the documentary genre, and thus to promote the completion of development and financing.
In this context, the joint effort between the organising bodies, DocsBarcelona and IBAIA (Association of Independent Audiovisual Production Companies of the Basque Country), will allow that each year, one of the projects presented in the pitching session of the San Sebastián Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum and one of the projects participating in the Docs Barcelona speed meetings will be chosen by the respective selection committees to automatically participate in the other marketplace.
The chosen projects will participate in the preparation workshops prior to the presentation day and will receive official accreditation for DocsBarcelona and the Industry Department of the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Thus, in the next edition of DocsBarcelona which will be held 6-10 May, the project ANIMAL by Raúl de la Fuente and Amaia Ramírez, selected in the last edition of the Lau Haizetara Forum, will be able to take advantage of these conditions. Under the same conditions, the project which will be present in the pitching session of the San Sebastián Lau Haizetara Forum on 25 September 2024 will be selected from all the projects presented at the speed meetings in Barcelona.
The text, signed by Joan González Herrero (Sole Director of PLANETA MED, SLU and María Ángeles Fernández Pascal (Chair of IBAIA), establishes the intention to continue working together to maintain a framework of collaboration favourable to the promotion and development of documentary projects.
